Portraits
Portrait sessions with friends, lovers, siblings — anyone. They run one to two hours depending on the location, the number of people and the vision you have.
Common questions
-
Both, in the right places. Through the ceremony and reception I'm fly-on-the-wall — watching, letting things unfold, not arranging them. Portraits are the opposite: I'll pose you, give direction, and make sure the pictures of the two of you are properly made. Most of your gallery is what actually happened. The portraits are what we made together.
-
Coverage runs from six hours up to ten, and every package includes an engagement shoot. There’s a separate rate for intimate ceremonies and elopements. If you’re not sure what fits your day, send me your timeline when you write and I’ll tell you what I’d suggest.
-
Two to three weeks for a full wedding day. Shorter coverage comes back faster — for an elopement or a ceremony of four hours or less, expect your gallery within a few business days. Either way, I'd rather you have your photos while the day is still fresh than wait two months for them.

I’m based in Rochester and I travel. Within 90 miles there’s no travel fee at all — that covers the whole Finger Lakes, plus Buffalo, Syracuse and Ithaca. Between 90 and 200 miles it’s a flat $250, and beyond 200 miles it’s a flat $750; those cover the drive and a night or two nearby so I’m on site and rested the morning of. If your wedding needs a flight, airfare and lodging go on at cost with nothing added, plus $250 a day. Travel is invoiced with your final payment, not at booking. I’ve photographed in New York City, on Prudence Island in Rhode Island, in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, and all around the Finger Lakes — further afield, just ask.
-
Yes — and three-hundred-person receptions. Both come off the same list of rates. The difference is usually how many hours you need, not what an hour costs.
-
Not at all. Every size of wedding, every faith, every couple. I’ve photographed same-sex weddings, a traditional Tamil Hindu ceremony, a backyard wedding in Pennsylvania and a coastal wedding in Rhode Island. However you’re marrying, I’d be glad to photograph it.
-
Yes — it’s included with every wedding package, six hours and up. Sessions run one to two hours, wherever means something to you.
-
I can. Film is $125 a roll with a two-roll minimum, and I’ll shoot a mix of film and digital through the day rather than committing to one or the other. The film goes out to a lab, so those scans come to you after your digital gallery rather than with it — I’ll tell you the timing when we book.
-
Yes. Video adds $2,600 to any wedding package. If you want eight hours of photography and video together, that’s $5,900 for the pair — $500 less than booking them separately. Tell me about your day when you write and I’ll walk you through what the coverage would look like.
-
Yes. Every wedding includes a gallery of high-resolution images to download, share and print.
-
A 20% deposit holds your date. The balance is due on the day of the wedding.
-
The deposit isn’t refundable, but I’ll do what I can. If you move the date and I’m free, your deposit moves with you. If I’m already booked that day, I’ll refund it.
-
Yes. If your venue needs a certificate of insurance, send me their details and I’ll get it over to them.
-
Yes — nearly every couple wants these, so they're part of every wedding. Send me a shot list of the groupings you want: family, wedding party, whichever groups of guests matter to you. I'll work through it on the day so nobody gets missed.
-
Always. Your images are backed up as a matter of course, so there’s never only one copy of your wedding sitting anywhere.
-
A 10×10 lay-flat album — ten spreads, twenty pages — bound in full-grain leather or linen with your names debossed on the cover. I design it from your gallery and you get two rounds of changes before it goes to print. Parent copies are $500 for the pair: two 6×6 duplicates of the same design.
